A new cargo terminal has opened at the Tashkent airport.

The new cargo complex, which has a capacity of carrying 120,000 tons of cargo annually, is located on a 5.2-hectare area and includes a three-story administrative building, a warehouse intended for the storage of various goods, as well as parking for light and cargo vehicles.

The warehouse occupies an area of 8500 sq.m and includes cooling and freezing chambers covering 500 sq.m for goods that require maintaining a certain temperature regime. In particular, the warehouse has built special rooms for storing plants and live animals, valuable goods, food products, and medicines. All special rooms are equipped with temperature gauges that allow setting the necessary temperature regime.

It is noted that currently, the cargo terminal built during 1994-2000 consists of about 20 outdated small and medium-sized warehouses and administrative buildings, occupying an area of nearly 3 hectares. The transit capacity of the terminal was originally designed to handle 30,000 tons per year. Meanwhile, in 2024, Tashkent airport is expected to receive nearly 80,000 tons of cargo and postal shipments. The buildings and facilities housing the administration and lessees are also outdated. All this indicates the necessity of expanding and modernizing the cargo transportation complex. Starting today, the transition from the old terminal to the new one has begun, phased.

Additionally, a new three-story administrative building covering an area of 3000 sq.m has been constructed for UzCargo employees, relevant services (customs, veterinary, plant quarantine, etc.), representatives of import/export companies, airlines and declarants, as well as cargo recipients. On the first floor, cargo recipients will use services via electronic queue. The office premises are located on the second and third floors. Moreover, there will be a large parking area available for light and cargo vehicles intended for all stakeholders.

UzCargo ("Uzbekistan Airports Cargo" LLC) — was established on November 1, 2022, as a subsidiary within the structure of "Uzbekistan Airports" JSC. The enterprise was formed based on the foundation of the Tashkent airport's Postal-cargo complex, providing services related to the processing and storage of cargoes, loading and unloading of goods, as well as the preparation of transport documents at the airport.
