On October 25, the newly constructed 240 kilometers section of the Qongirot – Beineu car road was put into operation. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the ceremony held for this occasion. This was reported by the President's press service.

This road is a strategic highway connecting our country with the European states. However, due to many years of usage and the sharply continental climate of the Aral Sea region, it had become dilapidated. For this reason, it was modernized with a project worth 323 million dollars from 2021 to 2024.

At the ceremony, the head of our state particularly highlighted the importance of this road.

– Now, the distance for international transportations from our regions will reduce up to 1,000 kilometers, and transportation costs will decrease by up to 25 percent. This road will turn into a logistics network that reliably connects our country with European markets through the Caspian and the Black Sea ports. Another important aspect – the daily transportation flow on the A-380 international route passing through Uzbekistan will triple, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The road fully meets international standards, being smooth and even. First and foremost, it provides a convenient and safe movement for our people, as well as for foreign tourists and freight transporters.

Previously, other sections of the “Guzor – Bukhara – Nukus – Beineu” international car road were repaired. This year, on February 29, a new bridge connecting Karakalpakstan with Khorezm across the Amudarya River was opened. Such works create convenience for people’s movement, increase economic activity, and further promote entrepreneurship.

According to calculations, more than 200 trade-service facilities and industrial enterprises will emerge around the new road. Initially, this will create 2,000 jobs, and in the future, another 5,000. Thus, a solid foundation will be laid for increasing the volume of transit and other services in Karakalpakstan to 200 million dollars a year, and our country's exports by at least 300 million dollars.

The lives of over one million people in the districts of To’rtko’l, Elli Kala (Ellikqala), Beruniy, Nukus, Khujayli (Xoʻjayli), Shumanay, Qonliko’l (Qonliqoʻl), Qorao’zak (Qoʻngʻirot) through which this main road passes will change.

The President expressed gratitude to the builders and workers involved in this project, the Asian Development Bank, contractors from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and China, and consultants from South Korea and Italy.

– Building roads and bridges, bringing distant places closer and simplifying difficulties are among the most meritorious deeds. In the symbol of these constructors, we see such noble individuals, worthy of the people's prayers and gratitude, working tirelessly. Let such noble deeds serving to enhance the economic potential of the new Uzbekistan and the prosperity of our people multiply, – said the head of our state.

The opening ceremony connected people present in the Qo’ng’irot district of Karakalpakstan and the “Dovot ota” customs post through a video bridge. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gladly gave permission to open the road and congratulated everyone on this joyful event.

State bodies and public representatives also participated in the ceremony.

At the event, a monitoring system for engineering structures was presented to the head of our state. According to this system, electronic transmitters will be installed at specific points on bridges. These will continuously monitor the durability and safety levels, not just within set periods as presently. If any deviation from the daily norms is detected, the problem will be promptly identified and addressed in a timely manner. This will ensure that the bridges remain in good condition for a long time.

Moreover, this system will also save money. About 20 paper-based reports will be digitized. The monitoring data will be stored for up to 30 years.

This system was first applied at the new road overpass leading to Tashkent International Airport, located on Bobur street. This transport interchange was also fully opened at the ceremony. Its total length is 702 meters, and its width is 46 meters. Additionally, 2 roundabouts and 4 flyover "wings" were constructed, effectively connecting it with the Small Ring Road and Sadiq Tolibov streets. This eliminated the need for detours, simplifying vehicle movement. Overall, this transport interchange has the capacity to handle 5,000 vehicles per hour and 132,000 vehicles per day.

The President emphasized the necessity of applying this system first on 114 bridges in our capital, and subsequently on all bridges.

It is worth mentioning that in the last eight years, 2,000 kilometers of roads have been rebuilt and 100,000 kilometers repaired in our country. Most importantly, the quality is changing, with new types of polymer-concrete and cement-concrete coatings being extensively used. As a result, the service life of roads extends by up to 1.5 times.

In collaboration with foreign companies, 10 major projects to build another thousand kilometers of roads are planned for next year.
