The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in an informal meeting of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) leaders in the city of Saint Petersburg on December 25th. This was reported by the President's press service.
The event was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow.
The meeting summarized the primary outcomes of joint efforts in 2024 and reviewed the priority tasks for multilateral cooperation planned for the coming year.
The importance of developing joint measures to expand trade and cooperation within the region, primarily by eliminating barriers in mutual trade, was noted.
Prospects for developing multifaceted partnerships in new directions were discussed. These include organizing engineering schools, internet technologies, big data industry, creative economy, "green" energy, peaceful nuclear development, and implementing digital solutions.
Relevant issues of expanding practical cooperation in the CIS framework to combat regional and international significance, as well as common threats and challenges, were also discussed.
