The leaders of Uzbekistan and the UAE agreed to commence a new era of economic partnership.

On January 15th, at the "Qasr Al Shati" palace in Abu Dhabi, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed Al Nahyan, held negotiations in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegation members. The President's press service reported this. 

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan expressed his gratitude to the President of the UAE for the invitation to visit and for the warm reception, and congratulated him on the successful holding of the "Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Week."

The state leaders discussed important issues of further developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation relations between Uzbekistan and the UAE, including in politics, trade and economy, investment, innovation, cultural-humanitarian, and other priority areas.

It was noted that the people of Uzbekistan and the Emirates are closely connected by common historical roots, similar traditions and values, and the sacred religion of Islam.

The visit of the leader of Uzbekistan to the UAE was noted as opening a new page in the history of bilateral relations - elevating them to the level of strategic partnership.

In recent years, the volume of trade exchange and investments, as well as the number of joint ventures, have increased several times. The number of direct flights increased, and a visa-free regime was introduced.

Within the framework of the visit, a portfolio of projects was formed with leading companies of the UAE, mainly in high-tech sectors.

The importance of further developing dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries to strengthen political relations was emphasized.

The leaders defined a new model of economic cooperation, including six main areas: artificial intelligence, digitalization, "green" energy, urban planning and infrastructure, tourism, and private business. It was agreed to establish separate working groups for each priority area.

The parties supported the proposal to declare the years 2025-2027 as the "New Era of Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE."

In this regard, the main task was set to increase mutual trade volume tenfold and bring the investment portfolio to 50 billion dollars by 2030.

Uzbekistan expressed its interest in further strengthening the connections between the business circles of the two countries and in expanding the investment activities of UAE companies in our country.

Special attention was paid to the issues of expanding the scope of cultural-humanitarian exchange.

Our state leader proposed to launch a joint program for training highly qualified personnel and conducting scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence in cooperation with the Muhammad bin Zayed University.

During the negotiations, issues of preparation for upcoming high-level events, including the preparation for the second summit of the "Central Asia - Gulf Cooperation Council Dialogue" to be held in the city of Samarkand this year, were discussed.

The leaders also exchanged views on current aspects of international politics.
