President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on March 26 regarding the conservation of energy resources, increasing their consumption efficiency, and the rational use of these resources link.

The highest consumption of energy resources, firstly, corresponds to the sectors of the economy. Factories built in old times did not meet the requirements for ecology and energy efficiency. Over the years, modernization has not received sufficient attention. In some places, electricity and gas were not available for days. Consumption and losses were high in industrial enterprises.

Therefore, in recent years, the sectors of the economy have been updated in terms of energy efficiency. A separate program is being implemented in terms of large enterprises and energy sectors.

By 2030, the population of our country is expected to reach 41 million, and the economy is expected to grow twofold. This will increase the demand for energy resources by 1.5 times from today. Therefore, it is necessary to see measures for saving energy while launching new projects and increasing capacity.

At the meeting, the responsible persons provided information about the work done in this area and future plans.

According to our President's instructions, continuing the experience of the past year, the possibilities of saving energy at the local level are being scientifically studied with the participation of scientists. Particularly, new opportunities for saving 870 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 420 million cubic meters of gas were identified in studies conducted in Samarkand, Sirdarya, and Jizzakh. For example, by replacing about 35,000 outdated pieces of equipment with energy-saving ones in small and medium-sized industrial enterprises in these provinces, it is possible to save annually 385 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 50 million cubic meters of gas.

There are numerous opportunities for saving energy in districts and neighborhoods. For example, by building 100-megawatt small solar stations in 300 neighborhoods, it is possible to save 45 million cubic meters of gas this year alone. In addition, more than a thousand micro-hydropower plants to be built on canals and streams will produce an additional 175 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

Street lighting also consumes 200 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. If solar panel lights are installed, consumption will decrease twofold.

Therefore, this year an additional plan was obtained to save 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 2.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity due to these opportunities.

Our state leader emphasized the necessity of installing modern energy-saving equipment in large industrial enterprises and reducing energy waste as a priority. The government was assigned to work in a new system of execution and supervision in this field.

Enhancing the culture of saving energy in offices and homes is also important. Not wasting electricity and gas unnecessarily, and using solar panels and other alternative sources also save a significant volume.

Taking into account the dense population of the Ferghana Valley provinces, a task has been assigned to develop a special approach in providing them with energy. This experiment is intended to be gradually implemented in other regions as well.
