A criminal scheme related to counterfeit currency circulation was exposed in the Namangan region. This was reported to Darakchi.uz by the SSU.
It is noted that an employee of the “Kosonsoy district roads usage” unitary enterprise offered to sell 20,000 counterfeit US dollars for 14,000 real dollars. He was caught by the SSU and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes during a special operation while handing over 8,000 counterfeit dollars to a buyer.
The investigation revealed that he had obtained this fake currency from a person born in 1985 living in the Kosonsoy district. Furthermore, another 6,000 counterfeit dollars were found and seized from him. The investigation uncovered another source: this currency had, in turn, come from another citizen born in 1992.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against all suspects under Part 3, Paragraph "a" of Article 176 of the Criminal Code, and detention has been chosen as a preventive measure.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing.
