President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov made a statement for media representatives on the results of bilateral negotiations.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the state visit to Kyrgyzstan is of historic significance and opens a new page in multifaceted Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan cooperation.
The head of state emphasized that thorough comprehensive preparation was made for the summit. Within the framework of the visit, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission, a business forum, meetings of rectors and representatives of analytical centers were held. Also, a number of events are being organized within the framework of the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027–2028. It was noted that this event reflects the growing authority not only of Kyrgyzstan, but of the entire Central Asia in the international arena.
It was emphasized that the negotiations were held in an open, constructive and friendly spirit. The parties discussed all areas of cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport, energy, cultural-humanitarian spheres.
One of the most important results of the summit was the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This document will bring cooperation between the two countries to a new, higher level.
"Now our main task is to enrich our cooperation with new content, projects and initiatives that will serve the development and prosperity of our countries and peoples," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Also, an agreement was reached on establishing an Interstate Council under the chairmanship of the Presidents of the two countries. This mechanism will serve to strengthen allied relations and determine directions of long-term cooperation.
During the negotiations, special attention was paid to the issue of increasing mutual trade turnover. It was noted that in recent years, the volume of goods exchange between the two countries has increased almost 10 times, exceeding 1.2 billion dollars by the end of 2025. Now the task is set to bring this figure to 2 billion dollars in the near future.
The parties agreed to expand industrial cooperation and implement new joint projects in the energy, electrical engineering, pharmaceutical, agriculture and textile sectors.
In the transport sector, it was noted that work is underway to implement the strategic project of constructing the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway. Also, issues of developing trade-logistics infrastructure and introducing digital solutions in this direction were discussed.
An agreement was also reached to strengthen cooperation in the water-energy sector. In particular, it is planned to continue cooperation on the rational use of transboundary water resources and to accelerate the process of implementing agreements on the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1.
It was also announced that the first Regional Forum in a new format is planned to be held in Uzbekistan by the end of the year.
The Presidents expressed readiness to further develop ties in the fields of culture, education, science, youth policy and tourism.
In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the reached agreements will serve to further strengthen the centuries-old friendship, good neighborliness and allied relations between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
