President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video conference meeting dedicated to increasing production, exports, and investments in the electrical engineering sector.

It was noted that one-fourth of our country's electrical engineering exports consist of products with low added value such as copper wire and rods.

80 percent of our cables are used for construction and domestic purposes. We have only four enterprises manufacturing cables for the high-demand automobile industry.

In this regard, it has been determined that from now on, technoparks in the electrical engineering sector will be developed based on industrial cooperation with enterprises in associated sectors.

For this purpose, up to 10 hectares will be allocated in technoparks in the cities of Ohangaron, Fergana, Karshi, and Urgench for enterprises in adjacent sectors such as composite materials, metal and plastic processing, mold manufacturing, and packaging.

Authorized persons were instructed to construct ready-to-use buildings and provide them to entrepreneurs under industrial mortgage terms. These enterprises, like electrical engineering enterprises, will be granted up to 50 percent property and income tax benefits.

Generally, it was emphasized that it is important to increase the share of deeply processed copper products to 60 percent this year and to 75 percent next year, and to bring the added value per ton of copper to $1,000.

Currently, the demand for electrical engineering products in energy, construction, water management, and automotive industries is gradually increasing.

For example, in the energy sector, projects to generate 27 gigawatts of electricity worth $36 billion are being implemented.

In the next three years, there is a task to install 4,150 water meters at water facilities, main networks and distribution points, and to update 243 gas distribution points by 2026.

Annually constructed 100,000-apartment multi-story residential buildings and 13 million square meters of non-residential buildings also require cables, transformers, heating and cooling systems, pumps, elevators, surveillance devices, electricity, and gas meters.

The automotive industry imports more than $200 million worth of electrical engineering products every year.

Considering all these sectors receive state privileges and cheap funds, the President noted that the excuse of the responsible persons saying "local products do not meet our demands, we are forced to import" will no longer be accepted.

It was stated that it is necessary to increase the share of local products in state investment programs and major projects.

For example, an agreement was reached to increase the share of local goods in the energy sector's private partnership projects to 25 percent, and in cables and conductors to 70 percent. Similar conditions were set to be agreed upon in other sectors.

In this regard, the “Uzelektrosanoat” association and regional governors will place orders with enterprises, while the leaders of the relevant sectors will help local enterprises conform to standards and obtain certification.

Generally, it was noted that it is necessary to bring the production in the electrical engineering sector to 40 trillion UZS this year.
