The Press Service of the Ministry of Health announced the information from Dr. Haydar Komilov, a medicine sciences doctor, about the products that are beneficial for teeth.

— Beyond caries and gum diseases, many suffer from unpleasant mouth odor. Proper hygiene and a right diet can prevent or completely eliminate this. For this, first of all, consume products containing zinc. It is found in fish and shellfish, red meat, eggs, grains, and nuts (almonds and cashews). Water, tea, apples, oranges, and yogurt are also good against bad breath.

Gingivitis and other periodontal diseases partially arise from the bacteria present in the food residues stuck between teeth. Vitamin D facilitates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, making the gums and teeth much more resistant to bacteria.

This vitamin can be obtained not only from sunlight but also by consuming oily types of fish. Due to the high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, it is advisable to eat oily fish twice a week.

Products rich in Vitamin C help prevent the reduction in collagen production, a major component of the gum. The decline in collagen can lead to serious issues like the dropping of gums. Vitamin C is found in oranges, lemons, grapefruits, mandarins, kiwis, red bell peppers, black currants, broccoli, and papaya.

Milk, cheese, and yogurt are sources of calcium, which is crucial for bones and teeth. For instance, cheese protects teeth since its consumption leads to the production of saliva rich in bactericidal properties. Calcium is also found in spinach, peas, broccoli, cabbage, or tofu.

Phosphorus is also very important for maintaining optimal tooth structure. This mineral is found in products like milk, eggs, and fish.

Celery contains malic acid, which aids in saliva production. This, in turn, cleans the teeth and eliminates stains. Like all vegetables, consuming celery raw or added to salads preserves its nutritional properties and is beneficial.

Green tea contains catechins, antioxidants that help prevent gum inflammation caused by bacteria. If green tea tastes too bitter for you, you can add lemon or a little milk to it.
