The European Union's new ambassador to Uzbekistan, Toivo Klaar, has commenced his duties.

During the last seven years, he has worked as the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia crisis.

The new Ambassador of the European Union, Toivo Klaar, had his credentials accepted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. This was announced by the minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov here.

According to him, the country's government is in favor of contributing to the enrichment of the close relations between Central Asia and the European Union with substantial results.

"Today's meeting agenda included strengthening cooperation and addressing critical global issues. We are confident that the ambassador's experience and extensive knowledge of our region will serve to make his diplomatic mission in our country effective," — states the report.

Ambassador Toivo Klaar started his duties on September 9, as reported by the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan's website. Since 2017, he has worked as the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia.

Toivo Klaar has obtained a Master's degree in public administration from Harvard University and the John F. Kennedy School of Government. As noted by the Delegation of the European Union, he possesses extensive diplomatic experience.
