“The Government Resolution on the Determination of the Boundaries of the Water Bodies Areas Where a Moratorium on the Extraction of Mineral Resources is Imposed” (No. 566, September 12, 2024) has been adopted. The Ministry of Justice is reporting this.
According to the Resolution, the boundaries of the areas where an indefinite moratorium on the extraction of mineral resources is imposed along the riverbeds of the Chirchik, Syrdarya, Sangzor, Zarafshan, Naryn, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya rivers have been approved.
In this case, the areas of the rivers where the moratorium is applied include riverbeds, their coastal zones, and water conservation zones.
Relevant organizations and administrations:
- will strictly control the cessation of cleaning of riverbeds and extraction of mineral resources in the areas designated for the moratorium;
- will intensify control measures to prevent illegal extraction of mineral resources in riverbeds, coastal areas, and water conservation zones, and ensure that actions are taken according to the law in cases of violation of the established moratorium.
Measures will be taken to relocate sand and gravel extractors and processors located in the areas designated for the moratorium to mountain and foothill areas or to small industrial zones located near these areas.
The right to use land plots containing mineral resources for the relocating entrepreneurs will be officially registered through “E-auction”.
