The Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ilhom Nematov, was awarded Russia's "Order of Friendship."

The award to the diplomat was presented by Vladimir Putin.

In the presence of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State, a ceremony was held to award the Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, Uzbek diplomat Ilhom To‘ychievich Ne’matov, with the Russian Federation's "Friendship" (“Дружба”) order. This was reported by the President’s press secretary Sherzod Asadov here.

It is reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin, recognizing Ilhom Ne’matov’s contributions to the development of the CIS, and his significant contributions to strengthening relations between the countries during his tenure as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Russia, presented the award.

Ilhom Ne’matov was born in 1952 in the Namangan region. He served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia in 2008—2010.

From 2018—2020, he worked as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, and from 2020—2021, as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Since 2021, Ilhom Ne’matov has been serving as the Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee.
