Previously, there was no comprehensive higher education institution in this field. Established based on the decision of our state leader on May 31, 2023, this university includes modern environmental directions.

“Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy aims at implementing measures in our country to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. It is known that these goals cover 17 aspects of well-being, including climate change, water and energy purity, health, education, consumption, and production, many of which rely significantly on the quality of personnel. Therefore, the university has opened directions in environmental and sustainable management, environment and economy, ecology and public administration, sustainable development, sustainable finance, environmental law, and mass communications in the environmental field.

A study building designed for 450 places has been renovated and modernized. The rooms are equipped with industry-related tools, computers, and artificial intelligence devices. Education is conducted in English. To this end, foreign teachers from the USA, Great Britain, Mexico, and France have also been involved.

The President conversed with the university's specialists and students here.

– Nowadays, ecology is as urgent as digital technologies. In the future, every field will be in harmony with the environment. Therefore, directions such as ecological economy, finance, and law have been established here. Now, we need to expand dual education and apply the knowledge acquired here more quickly, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Officials were tasked with establishing technical schools in Karakalpakstan and in each region for training junior ecology personnel.

At the university, academic and professional experience exchange with foreign higher education institutions has been established. Educational programs are developed in collaboration with them based on the principle of “science-education-production integration”.

Modern laboratories are playing a crucial role in attracting students to science and enhancing their experience. Here, samples of soil, water, biodiversity, and waste are tested in various environments, yielding scientific conclusions.

The state leader also inspected this laboratory.

- Here we have scientific potential and the necessary equipment. It must be used efficiently. For instance, analyses can be conducted based on contracts for regions with difficult soil-water conditions. This would be mutually beneficial, - said the President.

In the institution, special attention is given to interdisciplinary research, development of innovative pedagogical methods and technologies, and integration of scientific-research and practical knowledge. The education process is organized on the principle of “Hub and Spoke”, which distinguishes itself by creating a unified education system, optimizing resources, and increasing the mobility of students and specialists.

To expand the university's capabilities, it is planned to renovate the buildings of former colleges located in the Yunusabad district of our capital and in the Bostanliq district of Tashkent region, turning them into a campus in the future.
