The wildfires in California are causing concerns that events similar to those in "The Last of Us" series could happen in real life.
This is due to the spread of fungi beyond their natural habitats due to the fires.
Therefore, scientists warn that dangerous fungi could be transmitted to humans.
Fungal spores adapt quickly to heat, meaning, they can survive in the human body and develop in the lungs, brain, and blood.
"We're not saying that people will turn into zombies, but a new pandemic could start because of the fungi," the report says.
