The Senate's next plenary session reviewed the Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal, Criminal-Procedural Codes and the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan in relation to the improvement of the road traffic safety system”.

The report on this law was presented by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security Issues, Qutbidin Burhanov.

It was reported that in 2024, more than 9,000 traffic accidents occurred. In these accidents, 2,203 people died, and 8,901 people were injured.

It was noted that the main cause of traffic accidents is drivers' lack of knowledge and disregard for the rules.  For this reason, it is intended to strengthen the liability for violations of road traffic safety.
