At the Senate's next plenary session, the Law on "Improvements in the Procedure of Using Land Parcels and Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was considered.

The law establishes the implementation of permitted types of land use, the privatization or alienation of lands used for the cultural-domestic needs and recreation of the population, and strictly specifies the prohibition of reducing their territories, building buildings, and structures on them.

With this law, criminal liability is intensified for violating these restrictions, botanical gardens are prohibited from being privatized and from construction being carried out on their territories, while including botanical gardens in the list of protected natural areas.

In particular, the Law supplements the Land Code with a separate chapter, implementing a system of permitted uses of land parcels, and the procedures for their designation and modification.

As the senators emphasized, the adoption of the Law will serve to enhance the efficiency of rational use and management of land resources, improve the market and cadastral valuation quality of land parcels across all categories, raise awareness among users, lessees, and owners of land parcels about the types of permitted uses, and improve supervisory efficiency in the sector.

Additionally, it prohibits the alienation of lands of botanical gardens and cultural recreation areas and the construction or expansion of building sites within their territories, while increasing the responsibility of officials.

At the conclusion of the discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
