Taiwan's major electronics manufacturer Foxconn is significantly expanding its production plan for Apple in India. For the first time, the company will start producing metal cases for iPhone smartphones, reports "Zamon.uz".

This move is part of Apple's strategy to diversify its global production chain and increase investments in local production. According to experts' calculations, the value added by Foxconn in India is still low, not exceeding 10 percent of the total production value. However, this new phase is expected to gradually increase this indicator.

Foxconn has begun the construction of a new case manufacturing plant in India.

It is known that former US President Donald Trump had urged Apple to produce iPhones directly in the USA. He threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on Apple products if the company did not comply with this demand.

Apple, however, prefers to diversify its manufacturing in East Asia, currently resisting Trump's pressure.
