The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting of the Security Council dedicated to strengthening the state's military security and defense on February 21st. This was reported by the Presidential press service. 

The meeting was attended by members of the Security Council, leaders of ministries and agencies that are part of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, district commanders, as well as from local studios the Chairman of the Supreme Council and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, governors of regions and the city of Tashkent, as well as officials of local government bodies.

At the beginning of the meeting, the work accomplished in strengthening our country's defense capability, its results, and some identified deficiencies were presented.

It was noted that our national army is being equipped with modern weapons and technology, and the combat and spiritual readiness of military personnel has significantly increased.

Based on global experience and analyses, new combat units were formed to prevent and eliminate internal and external threats, and the composition of the troops was optimized.

The modernization of the army and the new system of modern armament - the further development of the defense industry, and the establishment of additional enterprises were noted. Our Armed Forces have established bilateral military cooperation with more than 20 countries, and achieved high results in over 400 joint exercises.

The infrastructure of military higher education institutions within the Armed Forces was fully modernized, and the curriculum and methodology were adapted to meet contemporary requirements.

Social and legal protection for military personnel and their family members has also been strengthened. Specifically, nearly 30 thousand families were provided with housing, and last year, more than 2 thousand military personnel's children were granted privileges for admission to higher education institutions.

The military-administrative sectors, state and public organizations are also involved in creating conditions for the defenders of the motherland. Attention is being intensified towards fostering patriotism in the youth, and starting initial military training in schools before conscription.

The meeting identified priority tasks for the year 2025 and the following years.

In defining the priority directions for the development of our national army, it was emphasized that it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of modern armed conflicts, existing threats to our security, and the theater of military operations.

It was noted that various regional conflicts today extensively utilize artificial intelligence, robots, missiles, drones, and their countermeasures. Consequently, the necessity to establish new units for drones and anti-drone combat, cyber infrastructures working with artificial intelligence, robotic technologies, and air defense was highlighted.

Our President, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, emphasized the need to ensure combat readiness of our Armed Forces, improve combat training indicators, create a unified automated control system for forces based on artificial intelligence, and the importance of using dual education in military training and preparation of military personnel.

Key tasks were identified, including improving the activities of the "Chief Sergeants Corps," which is the backbone of the army, further developing the defense industry, supporting military personnel and their families socially, fostering patriotism among the youth, and directing them towards military sports.

The meeting heard reports and proposals from the Minister of Defense, district commanders, and other officials.
