On June 9 of the current year, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 74-meter "Blue" line of the Dubai Metro. This was reported by Khaleej Times.
The station located in the Dubai Creek Harbor area will be named Emaar Properties Station. It will occupy an area of 11,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 160,000 passengers per day. The project is valued at 56 billion dirhams and has a total length of 30 kilometers, with 15.5 kilometers underground and 14.5 kilometers above ground.
The stations will be provided with modern conveniences. These include areas for bicycles and electric scooters, taxi stands, and bus stations. The station in the Dubai Creek Harbor area is expected to become one of the city's key architectural and transportation hubs.
The Dubai Metro is considered the first ultra-modern, the longest fully automated and driverless rapid transit network in the Persian Gulf countries. Moreover, it offers an affordable and convenient mode of transportation, providing easy trips to all the major attractions of the metropolis. Every month, 5 million tourists and locals use the rapid transit service.
This line is planned to be operational by 2029. After which, the total length of the Dubai Metro will reach 131 kilometers, with the number of stations reaching 78.
The new line is expected to serve 320,000 passengers daily and significantly improve transportation links along the city's main areas.
