Ayatollah Khomeini threatened Israel with "severe punishment."

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic stated that Israel had "revealed its repugnant nature by committing a crime against Iran," and emphasized that Israel now awaits a "bitter fate."

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei sharply criticized Israel for striking the Islamic Republic and threatened consequences for it. According to him, Israel "has shown its abhorrent character by committing a crime against Iran." Therefore, Israel will receive "severe punishment," quotes the words of Khamenei  Iranian media.

"With this attack, the Zionist regime has secured a bitter fate for itself, which it must certainly prepare for," added the Ayatollah.

Israeli air force conducted a "warning strike" on Iranian territory on the night of June 13, leading to Israel closing its airspace. According to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) data, the strikes were directed at dozens of targets related to Iran's nuclear program and other military facilities involving dozens of targets.

On the morning of June 13, the IDF announced that it had hit more than 100 targets in Iran overnight. The operation involved 200 fighter jets.

Furthermore, according to media reports, attacks were carried out on the military and scientific leadership of the Islamic Republic. Specifically, as a result of the strikes, the head of Iran's armed forces General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hossein Salami, Iranian nuclear scientists Fereydoon Abbasi-Davani, and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi were reported killed. According to Iranian press, Ali Shamkhani, an advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, was seriously injured.
