"Trans-Afghan" railway agreement signed

On the evening of July 17, the first trilateral meeting between the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan took place.

The participants of the meeting acknowledged this dialogue as a significant historic step toward strengthening regional trust, good neighborliness, and cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a trilateral agreement was signed on the development of a technical-economic feasibility study for the Trans-Afghan Railway project.

It was emphasized that this project holds strategic importance for Eurasia.

"Trans-Afghan" Railway:

— Connects Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan;

— Contributes to the recovery of Afghanistan's economy;

— Opens new routes to global markets through southern ports.

The parties also reached mutual agreements on deepening trade relations, expanding cooperation in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and construction, as well as enhancing the use of the Termez International Trade Center.

This meeting not only strengthens relations among the three countries but also opens new opportunities for the integration and development of the entire region.
