Russian scientists are falling behind world science by an average of more than three years. This was announced by Ruben Enikolopov, the scientific director of the Russian School of Economics.

According to the expert, the articles published in the country's leading scientific journals cover topics that were discussed in the world two or three years ago.

According to Enikolopov, due to sanctions, Russian researchers cannot directly access the results of scientific research abroad, which excludes them from relevant ideas and international scientific discussions.

Furthermore, between 2015 and 2024, the number of scientific personnel in Russia also decreased: the number of doctors of science decreased by almost 23 percent, and the number of candidates of science decreased by 19 percent.
