In some areas, AQI indicators have been recorded several times higher than the standard. Air pollution has sharply increased in a number of cities in Uzbekistan, posing a serious threat to public health.
The most severe situation is observed in Fergana — here the Air Quality Index (AQI) is 603, rated as the most hazardous level.
AQI was recorded at 294 in Urgench, 274 in Jizzakh, and 235 in Bukhara — very harmful indicators. The air quality remains at an unhealthy level in Termez (174), Andijan (200), and Namangan (166). It is also reported that the indicators in Nukus and Navoi are above the dangerous threshold.
Experts are calling on the population to use medical masks, limit outdoor activity, and enhance ventilation in enclosed buildings.
