Today, on February 18, Ukraine imposed personal sanctions against Belarusian citizen Alexander Lukashenko. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his X page.

According to the official statement, this decision is explained by the Belarusian leadership's support for Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as its assistance to Russia in circumventing international sanctions.

According to Zelenskyy, in 2025, systems for controlling attack drones operated by Russian military personnel were deployed on Belarusian territory. Furthermore, over 3,000 Belarusian enterprises are supplying products and technologies for Russia's military-industrial needs. It was also announced that infrastructure is being prepared on Belarusian territory for the deployment of medium-range "Oreshnik" missiles.

The imposed sanctions entail the cancellation of Ukrainian state awards given to Lukashenko, the freezing of his assets, the suspension of trade and economic operations, and the imposition of restrictions on transit and financial operations. Additionally, restrictions have been established in the areas of privatization, state procurement, certain property and corporate agreements, and directions of international cooperation. The main part of the sanctions will be in effect for 10 years.

We recall that earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the US government that Ramzan Kadyrov, like Nicolas Maduro, should also be arrested.
