Iran has put forward a series of sharp conditions to the US and Israel regarding the issue of stopping the war in the Middle East. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
It is reported that attempts by mediators to launch negotiations are continuing, but serious disagreements between the parties persist. One of the main issues is the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran is currently said to have closed and some ships are reportedly coming under attack.
Iran is demanding payment from ships passing through the strait, guarantees that the war will not resume, a halt to strikes against Hezbollah, the closure of US bases in the Persian Gulf, and compensation for damages inflicted.
The US, in turn, has demanded that Iran stop its missile program, cease uranium enrichment, stop supporting regional groups, and open the Strait of Hormuz unconditionally. This position has also been confirmed by US President Donald Trump.
At the same time, Qatar and Oman are actively participating in the mediation process, while Turkey and Pakistan are also conducting separate negotiations.
Despite diplomatic efforts, the gap between the parties' positions remains large, and the likelihood of reaching an agreement soon is assessed as low.
