259 people set a record by tasting more than 10 varieties of melon at the same time.
The festival was organized at the historical complex “Ichan-Kala” and the tourist center “Arda Khiva”. It was attended by a total of 186 thousand guests, including 150 thousand local and 36 thousand foreign tourists.
One of the main events of the festival was the setting of a world record for the “largest melon tasting”.
According to the official certificate issued by the Guinness Book of Records, the record was registered in the city of Khiva on August 9. There, 259 people tasted more than 10 varieties of melon at the same time.
The official judge of the Guinness Book of Records, representative for Turkey and Central Asia, Sheyda Subashi Gemiji, also took part in the process of confirming the record.
During the festival, melon varieties, local products, and achievements in the field of agriculture were displayed by the districts of the Khorezm region, farming enterprises, and other participants.
The “Melon Festival” is aimed at promoting the tourism potential of the Khorezm region, developing agro-tourism, and widely popularizing local products.
