A blogger suspected of beating a taxi driver in Tashkent has been arrested. This was reported by the deputy head of the Information and Multimedia Center of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate, Qahramon Khudoyberganov.
It is noted that the blogger was arrested within the framework of a criminal case initiated by the Investigation Department of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate.
The incident in question occurred on August 17 in the Yashnobod district of Tashkent.
According to reports, a verbal dispute arose between a 27-year-old taxi driver, Yoqubbek Jo'raboyev, and a female passenger. After that, two acquaintances of the passenger — Instagram bloggers — arrived at the scene.
They argued with the driver and used insulting words against him. The bloggers initially accused the driver of sexual harassment against the woman and spread videos about it on social media.
However, when the situation took a different turn, the bloggers asked the public for help in clearing their names via a video address. Later, videos related to the conflict were removed from their social media pages.
The taxi driver, in turn, stated that force had been used against him during the incident. He was hospitalized with bodily injuries.
Doctors found swelling on his forehead and occipital area, as well as abrasions on his shoulder, side, chest, and abdomen.
A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigation Department of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate regarding the incident. The blogger was arrested within the framework of the investigation.
