On August 24, in the match held at the “Craven Cottage” stadium in London, Chelsea’s new head coach Xabi Alonso played his first official Premier League game with the team. The Spanish specialist’s tenure at Chelsea began with a victory.
The score was opened before the 32nd second. João Pedro put “Chelsea” ahead. In the 23rd minute, Joshua King scored the equalizer for “Fulham”.
Near the end of the first half, Morgan Rogers again put the visitors ahead. In the 49th minute, Cole Palmer scored “Chelsea”’s third goal.
“Fulham” reduced the deficit to one goal with Gonzalo García’s goal in the 54th minute. However, in the remaining part of the match, the hosts could not equalize, and “Chelsea” started the season with a 3:2 victory.
Thus, “Chelsea”’s new attacking trio — João Pedro, Morgan Rogers, and Cole Palmer — each scored one goal. Rogers got his name on the scoresheet already in his official debut for “Chelsea”.
It is worth noting that Xabi Alonso was appointed head coach of “Real Madrid” in the summer of 2025, but left the team in January 2026. Álvaro Arbeloa was appointed in his place. Later, Arbeloa also left “Real Madrid” and became the head coach of “Fulham” in July.
“Chelsea” will play their next Premier League match on August 30 at home against “Brighton”. “Fulham”, meanwhile, will be away at “Sunderland” that same day.
