A video showing passengers crowding in the aisles of a train traveling on the Sariosiyo—Termiz route has spread on social media. Specialists in charge have begun an investigation into the situation. The press service of "O'ztemiryo'lovchi" JSC reported this.
In the circulated video, it is stated that there are too many passengers in the carriage and the cooling system is not working. It was also noted that there are elderly people, young children, and women with infants on the train.
According to "O'ztemiryo'lovchi" JSC, the intercity train operating on the Sariosiyo—Termiz route consists of 4 passenger carriages. On this train, tickets are sold without indicating seat numbers, that is, without assigned seats.
Passengers board the train on the basis of a valid ticket and take empty seats. Each carriage is designed to carry 81 passengers in a seated position.
It is noted that due to a sharp increase in passenger flow during weekends and holidays, crowding may be observed on some trips.
"Train carriages are provided with necessary conveniences for passengers. In particular, uninterrupted operation of cooling systems in summer and heating systems in winter is ensured. Specialists in charge are conducting an investigation into the situation that spread on social media. Necessary measures will be taken to provide passengers with even more comfortable, safe, and quality service," the official statement says.
The press service called on citizens to rely on official information sources rather than unconfirmed or one-sided interpreted information.
Let us remind that a few days ago, the governor of Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Qosimov, criticized the transport system in the region, in particular, the conditions in trains and carriages.
"There are no conditions at all on the railway. A person who boards the carriage becomes ill by the time he reaches Tashkent. Neither the cooling system works, nor are there any conditions. There are no tickets, nor are there conditions at the station. People cannot be transported in the suburban trains running from Termiz to Sariosiyo; it is impossible inside it," the regional leader had said.
The governor also criticized the transport prosecutor's office and responsible agencies for their inattention to the situation, calling on the transport prosecutor not to remain a spectator to the situation.
