A member of a criminal group attempting to smuggle drugs into Uzbekistan has been arrested.

From the arrested individual, 15 bricks of hashish, valued at 6.5 million som (in Kyrgyz currency), were seized.

On July 21 of this year, in the city of Kyzyl-Kiya in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, an international drug trafficker, D.M., attempting to smuggle 15 kg of hashish into Uzbekistan, was detained by the employees of the Kyrgyzstan National Security State Committee. The publication “Sputnik” reported this.
According to the security service, the department has developed an organized criminal drug trafficking group that established an international narcotics channel along the Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route.
From the arrested individual, 15 hashish bricks with a total weight of 15 kilograms and a market value of 6.5 million som (in Kyrgyz currency) were seized.

The foreign national was identified as intending to smuggle the narcotic substances into Fergana region of Uzbekistan for the purpose of selling them.

On July 22, 2024, by the decision of the Osh city court, the arrested individual will be kept in detention until September 16, 2024.

Currently, investigative actions regarding the criminal case are ongoing, aiming to identify other individuals involved in the crime through rapid search operations.
