The construction of a universal resort complex with a total value of 5 billion dollars is planned in the Bostanliq district of the Tashkent region.
According to the official decree, 577 hectares of land have been leased to "Sea Breeze Uzbekistan" LLC for 25 years.
However, the investor is strictly required to comply with environmental regulations, particularly to prevent waste and sewage from entering the Charvak reservoir and the Chirchiq River.
The Cabinet of Ministers has explicitly stated that if these requirements are violated during the project's implementation, the lease may be terminated and the land reclaimed.
As indicated in the official document, the investor will purchase private properties within the construction area in agreement with their owners.
The Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Ecology, and the Ministry of Construction will maintain constant oversight of the project. For instance, the Deputy Prosecutor General will directly monitor the project's compliance with legal requirements. Additionally, a republican working group will be established to regularly monitor the investor's obligations.
However, experts emphasize the need for independent environmental impact assessments for such large-scale projects, warning that otherwise, major reservoirs like Charvak could be at risk.
