On September 5th of this year, a parliamentary session was held. During the meeting, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, announced that the remaining state debt of Uzbekistan amounted to 37 billion dollars.
According to the Minister, in the first half of the current year, the state debt was equivalent to 33.2 percent of the gross domestic product.
“During the reporting period, the remaining state debt amounted to nearly 37 billion dollars. Of this, the external state debt reached 30.9 billion dollars, and the internal debt amounted to 6.1 billion dollars. According to the report of the International Monetary Fund, the state debt of Uzbekistan is currently at a moderate level.
In January–June of this year, external debt contracts under the state guarantee of Uzbekistan were signed for a total of 2.8 billion dollars. Also, to support the state budget and refinance international bonds to be redeemed this year, sovereign international bonds worth 1.5 billion dollars were issued on the world financial markets,” says Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov.
