A meeting dedicated to reducing poverty in neighborhoods and advancing the system of working with impoverished families to a new level is being held under the leadership of the President.

A videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated to advancing poverty reduction efforts to a new level of quality is being held.

It is noted that four years ago, when the work in this area began, the income of 7.5 million or 23 percent of the population was below the poverty line. did not reach.

During this period, our population increased by 3.7 million, and the poverty line was accordingly increased by 1.5 times.

Nevertheless, by making 3.5 million people income-generating, poverty was reduced to 11 percent by the end of 2023.

Firstly, the coverage of social protection was increased by 4.5 times (from 466 thousand families to 2.2 million), and last year 12.3 trillion soms were allocated for these purposes. The amount of pensions and benefits was also increased by 1.5 times.

It was emphasized that 35 trillion soms in low-interest loans and 7 trillion soms in subsidies were provided for poverty reduction and entrepreneurship projects in neighborhoods.

120 trillion soms were allocated for the improvement of neighborhoods, kindergartens, schools, healthcare, roads, water, and electric infrastructure.

Additionally, 260,000 hectares of land were distributed as an income-generating asset for agriculture to 800,000 people, primarily youth.

The recent visit of the Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to our country acknowledged that this is not only a correct path for employment and income but also for ensuring food security.

Last month, the experience created by Uzbekistan in a short time was highly rated by experts from more than 60 countries who attended the International Conference on Poverty Reduction.
