President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects in construction, education, tourism, and industrial sectors on September 26. The President's press service reported this.
As is known, the construction of the first facilities started on April 3 this year in the new Tashkent city. Emphasizing that this grand project begins with the places of science and culture, the head of our state had said, “these will be the foundation and example of our idea of building an educated society”.
One of them is the complex that includes the International Scientific-Research Center named after Alisher Navoiy, the Literature Museum, and the National Maqom Center. It was designed by the world-famous “Zaha Hadid architects” company. The upcoming complex is noteworthy for its unique design and functionality. It expertly combines aesthetics and convenience, achieving harmony with the environment. For these reasons, the complex will become one of the international tourism destinations in the future.
Another significant spot for the new Tashkent is the Chirchiq River. It is planned to create a recreational area along nearly 6 kilometers of it for the public and visitors by tidying up the banks and greening the area. Hotels, health, and leisure facilities will be built.
In recent years, Uzbekistan's cooperation with UNESCO has further strengthened. It has been decided that the 43rd session of this prestigious organization's General Conference will be held in Samarkand in 2025. In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 15 of this year, preparations have started.
The presentation also provided information about the ongoing work and plans in this regard. In particular, measures are being taken to preserve cultural heritage sites in Samarkand city and organize tours and exhibitions in cooperation with the Culture and Arts Development Foundation, UNESCO National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and other organizations. All conditions will be created at hotels and venues where events will be held. Transportation and medical services for session participants, and cultural events will be coordinated.
Education is one of the largest areas in the social sector. In our country, where the majority of the population is young, all levels of education are being systematically developed. In particular, new facilities are being built and conditions are being improved in higher education.
More than 21,000 young people study at Bukhara State University, which has 10 faculties and 8 dormitories. However, the buildings are scattered in different areas of the city, causing inconvenience for teachers and students.
For this reason, there are plans to construct a new campus for the university on the outskirts of Bukhara. The complex, designed on 43 hectares, will centrally locate all faculties, administration, dormitories, laboratories, a library, a stadium, a sports hall, and an amphitheater. Modern conditions will be created for classes and practical training. The dormitory capacity will increase from 3,000 to 6,000. Trees will be planted and a park will be established on the vacant areas.
Khiva city is one of the tourism destinations of our country. Thanks to recent construction efforts, its potential has increased even more. A pedestrian overpass is planned to be built next to the train station to facilitate the convenience for visitors. According to the project, this 450-meter path will allow for separate traffic movement, ensuring the safe movement of pedestrians between the station and Ichon-Qala.
The head of our state gave instructions to improve the projects and enhance the quality of ongoing works.
The presentation also included information about the implementation of investment programs in Tashkent city. As noted, during the past period of this year, investments worth 2 billion dollars were utilized. Nearly 200 industrial projects have been commissioned, creating more than 25,000 jobs. Specifically, 46 enterprises are being established in the Yangihayot district technopark.
Our President emphasized the necessity of launching the planned projects by the end of the year on time, paying special attention to energy efficiency.
