WHO approves the first test to detect monkeypox virus. This was reported by the Ministry of Health Press Service.
Mpox (monkeypox) virus led to the declaration of an emergency in regions of Africa in mid-August.
Following this, the first vaccine against this infection passed WHO's initial qualification in September.
However, the diagnosis process of the disease required a long time and diagnostic capabilities were limited in various regions, which caused the virus to spread rapidly.
In response to this, the World Health Organization approved the first rapid diagnostic test for monkeypox. This test, developed by "Abbott Molecular Inc.", is named "Alinity m MPXV".
PCR test is primarily authorized for use in regions where the epidemic is most severe and in countries where there is a critical need for rapid and accurate diagnostic tools.
