On October 14, in the Yangiyul district, a ceremony was held to launch and start construction of important projects in the Tashkent region. The President's press service reported this.
The Tashkent region holds strategic importance in the economy of our country. The potential of this region and our great capital are interconnected and complement each other.
In the last five years, the industrial volume in the Tashkent region has increased by 1.5 times, amounting to 107 trillion soums, and the volume of local exports has increased by 3.5 times, reaching nearly 1 billion dollars.
A favorable business and investment environment serves to increase investment volumes and implement advanced technologies. In 2018, the region assimilated 20 million dollars in investments, while last year this figure reached 1 billion dollars. The number of enterprises with foreign capital is also increasing annually, now amounting to 1,700.
Currently, work is being carried out on 91 foreign investment projects worth 20 billion 360 million dollars and 28 local investment projects worth 4.5 billion dollars.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the significance of the projects within the framework of the ceremony.
In particular, a "Great Silk Road" special industrial technopark will be built in Almalyk city on an area of 227 hectares with 1 billion dollars in investments. There, nearly 100 enterprises in the fields of electrical engineering, textiles, construction materials, and pharmaceuticals will be established. 3,000 new jobs will be created, producing goods worth 5 trillion soums annually and creating export potential of 300 million dollars.
In the Upper Chirchik district, a textile industry park will be established on an area of 69 hectares at a cost of 350 million dollars. This complex will host more than 20 enterprises for spinning, weaving and dyeing, and producing finished textile products.
The production and export of food products in our country are consistently increasing. By 2030, the goal is to double food production and increase exports by five times and the added value level by three times. Undoubtedly, the Tashkent region will contribute significantly to achieving this goal.
In particular, in the Yangiyul district, enterprises for producing 50 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers and chemical agents per year are being launched, and in Qibray, enterprises for producing high-quality export-oriented food products are being initiated.
The Tashkent region also has great potential in the energy sector, with available capacities of 5.7 gigawatts. To increase this amount, 6 projects with a total value of 1.5 billion dollars and a capacity of over 800 megawatts are being implemented.
Alongside the development of green energy, many efforts are being made to maintain the stability of the energy system in our country. Therefore, it is planned to construct energy storage systems with a total capacity of 4,100 megawatts by 2030.
Three projects being built with the participation of leading Chinese companies play an important role in this. First, a solar power station worth 240 million dollars will be built in the Buka district in partnership with the "China Datang" company. This station will generate 576 million kilowatt-hours per year or enough electricity for 240,000 households. As a result, the generating capacities in the region will reach 6.5 gigawatts, and electricity production will reach 24 billion kilowatt-hours per year.
Two other projects are energy storage systems worth 220 million dollars with a capacity of 200 megawatts, built in cooperation with "China Energy Overseas Investment" in Parkent and Piskent districts. They will prevent outages during peak hours and ensure reliable electricity supply to consumers.
In recent years, more than 630 million dollars in investments have built hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of over 400 megawatts, raising their capacity to 2.2 gigawatts.
Studies show that it is possible to build 44 hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 3,280 megawatts in our country. Especially, the Tashkent region has a very high hydroelectric potential.
Currently, there are 25 hydroelectric power stations in the region with a total capacity of 1,330 megawatts. This equals 60 percent of the total hydroelectric power capacity in our republic.
Today, 4 more HPPs worth 880 million dollars and with a capacity of 340 megawatts are being constructed. Furthermore, by 2028, approximately 23 projects with a total capacity of nearly 2,400 megawatts worth 4 billion 800 million dollars will be implemented in the region.
At the ceremony, two of these – a small 2.5-megawatt HPP in Ohangaron district and a 1.5-megawatt Ugam small HPP in Bostanliq district – were launched. These capacities will generate 18 million 400 thousand kilowatt-hours of "green" energy per year and supply electricity to 7,600 households.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to foreign companies investing in our country and wished them success in their endeavors.
A symbolic button was pressed to start the construction and operation of these 9 projects, with a total value of 2 billion dollars.
