Reports on social networks about the increasing level of air pollution in Tashkent city and its leading positions in “negative” ratings are causing legitimate concern and sorrow among everyone.
The capital's air pollution is directly affected by natural factors such as dry climate, sandy and loamy soils, alongside climate change, increasing emissions from industrial and transportation vehicles, illegal cutting of valuable trees during declared moratorium periods, and rapid construction without approved urban planning.
The prosecutorial bodies, taking these situations into account, have started planned inspection activities throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan since September of this year, focusing on the implementation of the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan on "Protection of Atmospheric Air", relevant decrees and instructions of the President, and other legal documents related to the sector, aiming to reduce harmful emissions and improve the condition of the atmospheric air.
Analyses show that in industrial enterprises that fall into categories I and II, which have a high impact on the environment, the installation of modern dust and gas cleaning equipment scheduled for 2024 is being delayed, including in Tashkent region, where only 19 out of 27 enterprises, and in Tashkent city, only 8 out of 31 enterprises have completed these works.
Based on the current situation, inspections in Tashkent city and Tashkent region involving experts from the Ministries of Ecology, Health, Transport, Internal Affairs, Emergency Situations, the Hydrometeorological Service Agency, the Construction Supervision Inspection and other relevant organizations were directly initiated by the General Prosecutor's Office starting from October 22 of this year.
The General Prosecutor's Office strictly ensures that identified cases of legal violations are taken under special control and decisive, uncompromising measures are being taken regarding them.
