In September 2025, a criminal case related to the mass poisoning of children in a number of preschool institutions in the Tashkent region is being considered in court. This was reported by the Supreme Court press secretary Aziz Obidov.

It is reported that on March 13, an open court proceeding began at the Buka District Court for Criminal Cases regarding incidents that occurred in the districts of Bekabad, Buka, Oqqo'rg'on, Piskent, and Quyi Chirchiq. Within the case, 11 individuals are charged under Part 4, paragraph "b" of Article 186 (production and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements) and Part 1 of Article 257-1 (violation of sanitary rules) of the Criminal Code. The preventive measure of "detention" has been applied to 10 of the accused, and "house arrest" to 1 other.

We recall that on September 25, 2025, it became known that children in kindergartens in the Piskent, Buka, Oqqo'rg'on, and Quyi Chirchiq districts were poisoned after a meal. According to the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health, a total of 1,922 children underwent medical examination. 959 of them were sent home as no clinical signs were observed, 269 children were treated and discharged, and subsequently, another 694 children were treated under medical supervision.

According to preliminary information, the cause of the children's condition may have been a 3.2% kefir product delivered to the kindergartens. This product was found to have been produced in one of the workshops in the Oqqo'rg'on district. The court proceedings are ongoing.
