A tunnel used for smuggling oil products to Uzbekistan was found in the south of Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Turkestan region prosecutor's office in a statement.
“A group of individuals had laid a tunnel of 450 meters in length at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border. Through this tunnel, 5-7 tons of lubricants and fuels were smuggled out daily. The illegal activity lasted for approximately two months. All members of the criminal group, including citizens of Uzbekistan, were identified during special operations,” says the report from the region's prosecutor's office.
Similar operations were conducted by the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan in the border area of the state border. A scheme for transferring funds for fuel exported from the neighboring country was identified.
“Members of the transnational criminal group were arrested both on the territory of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Pre-investigation checks are currently being carried out,” says the report from the Turkestan region prosecutor's office.
