“The Government Resolution on implementing measures to launch the activity of the “Scientific-Technical Center of Radiation and Nuclear Safety” under the Industrial, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety Committee of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan” (No. 27, dated January 21, 2025) was adopted. The Ministry of Justice reported this.
Accordingly, the following have been designated as the primary directions of the “Scientific-Technical Center of Radiation and Nuclear Safety” state institution's activities:
- developing proposals (recommendations) based on scientific research and scientific-technical work concerning the state policy execution and regulation in the field of radiation and nuclear safety;
- conducting expertise related to substantiating the safety of the use of nuclear energy objects and (or) activities in the field of nuclear energy usage;
- developing and improving the regulatory base for radiation and nuclear safety in the field of nuclear energy use;
- participation in the development of state programs, international projects, and programs concerning radiation and nuclear safety issues, as well as technical, analytical, and experimental support in the control and licensing activities;
- performing scientifically based safety analyses, modeling, and calculations using advanced technologies in the field of radiation and nuclear safety;
- developing, creating, forming, and maintaining databases in the field of regulation of radiation and nuclear safety;
- implementing international cooperation within its competence.
