Today, the regular session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.

It discussed the draft law aimed at improving the system for preventing iodine deficiency diseases among the population, in a clause-by-clause second reading. 

This draft law defines the powers of the Ministry of Health regarding the use of iodine-containing substances for iodizing salt and food products, the requirements for these substances, the sanitation rules, norms and hygienic standards for iodizing salt and food products, producing, transporting, storing, and selling iodized salt, and monitoring its compliance.

According to the deputies, the adoption of this draft law will serve to protect public health, prevent iodine deficiency diseases, and enhance the intellectual potential of the growing generation.

The bill was adopted by the deputies in its second reading at the session.
