Switzerland's Beznau nuclear power station (NPP) first block was temporarily shut down due to extreme heat. This was reported by the station operator “Axpo” company.

It is reported that the water of the Aare river, which is used to cool the NPP reactors, has become excessively hot. Normally, the water that has gone through the cooling system is returned to the river. However, because the river's water temperature exceeded 25 degrees, it could negatively affect nature after the cooling process.

Axpo company emphasized that these restrictions were implemented with the aim of “protecting the ecosystem and adhering to ecological standards”.

It is worth noting that such a situation was also observed in Beznau in 2022. At that time, abnormal heats were observed all over Europe, and even France had imposed restrictions on its NPPs.
