The Ukrainian delegation will arrive in Saudi Arabia on March 10-12 to conduct negotiations with the American side.
During the talks taking place this week in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine will try to convince the US to restore intelligence and military support. Additionally, Ukraine intends to persuade US President Donald Trump that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wants to stop the war as soon as possible. This was reported by Financial Times citing unnamed sources here.
According to sources of the publication, individuals familiar with the preparations for the negotiations in Saudi Arabia revealed that Kyiv intends to propose a partial ceasefire with Russia. This proposal includes drone and missile attacks, as well as military operations in the Black Sea, and it is hoped that positive progress in the negotiations will persuade Washington to abandon its decision to freeze intelligence sharing and arms supply.
The Ukrainian negotiators will depart for Saudi Arabia on Monday, March 10. According to Financial Times sources, the initial days without US support resulted in the Ukrainian forces retreating from territories they had captured last year in the Kursk region.
According to a Ukrainian official, Kyiv will prioritize strengthening relations with the US in the near term. Two European officials emphasized that Kyiv sees the progress in the negotiations as a quid pro quo for restoring military and intelligence support.
We remind you that negotiations between the American and Ukrainian delegations will take place in Saudi Arabia from March 10-12. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced preparations for this significant diplomatic week.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expects effective results from the negotiations: "This relates not only to achieving peace but also continuing support".
According to information from Reuters agency here, during the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation will attempt to ascertain whether Ukraine is ready to seriously embark on a path to peace with Russia.
Meanwhile, American officials intend to assess how seriously Kyiv is approaching improving relations with the Trump administration.
