Poet Shamsiddin To'raev filed a complaint to the Ministry of Justice against singer Botir Qodirov for setting his poems to music without paying the appropriate copyright fees. The Intellectual Property Department of the Ministry of Justice reported about this.

It was noted that based on the application of poet Shamsiddin To'raev, known under the pen name “Shamsiddin Sadoiy”, it was found that singer Botir Qodirov used the poems titled “Davlating borida”, “Omonat”, and “Tingla do’stim” without the permission of the copyright owner and without paying the necessary copyright fees.

In connection with this case, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the violator under Article 1771 (Violation of copyright and related rights) of the Code on Administrative Responsibility, and submitted to the appropriate court.

According to the decision of the Chilonzor district court of Tashkent city on criminal cases, a fine of 1 million 875 thousand sums – five times the base calculation amount was imposed on the violator under the first part of Article 1771 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

For information, according to Article 65 of the “Law on Copyright and Related Rights” of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the author or another owner of exclusive rights is entitled to demand compensation from the violator in an amount from twenty to one thousand times the basic calculation amount instead of compensation for damage.
