The Registan and the Taj Mahal hold a special place among the unique architectural monuments of the East. They are significant not only as the great constructions of their time but also as symbols of cultural connections. Interestingly, the Registan Square in Samarkand and the Taj Mahal in Agra were built almost simultaneously. The similarities between these two magnificent buildings are not accidental, but the result of deep cultural and architectural cooperation between the Ashtarkhanids and the Mughals, as evidenced by this source.

In the 17th century, diplomatic and economic relations between these two great states reached a high level. This is also confirmed by the portrait of Imam Quli Khan made during the reign of Aurangzeb. The construction of the Registan and Taj Mahal involved the most skilled architects of their time, who drew inspiration from one another and collaborated.

Today, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is gathering information on the similarities and differences of these two historical monuments, their architecture, and their construction history as part of its exhibition. Additionally, special media content dedicated to these gems is being prepared for display in the museum.
