At least 45 people died in Uttar Pradesh, India, due to heavy rain and lightning strikes. This was reported by “Times  Of India” here.

It was reported that the deaths mainly occurred in the districts of Kasganj and Fatehpur.

Additionally, two people died in the cities of Chitrakoot and Ambedkarnagar as a result of lightning strikes.

According to the newspaper, wind speeds reached up to 60–100 km per hour and lightning is expected to continue until next week. Due to the heavy rain and lightning, Delhi Airport had to reroute at least 13 flights. Airlines operating at the airport have pre-warned passengers about delays and changes in the schedule.

The government has instructed local authorities to quickly compensate the families of those who died.

It is reported that rural areas suffered the most damage. In some areas, a “red” weather hazard level has been declared.
