On October 7, the Moon will approach its perigee point and will be located at its closest distance to Earth. Due to this astronomical event, the Moon in the sky will appear larger and brighter than usual.

According to a TASS report, tomorrow the distance between the Moon and Earth will shorten to less than 360 thousand kilometers, which is about 14 percent closer than the farthest distance the Moon can be from Earth (406 thousand km). Typically, the average distance between Earth and the Moon is 384.4 thousand kilometers.

Astronomers note that in this case, the Moon will appear larger and brighter than usual, but this is not a full Supermoon.

Other important celestial events observable in October:

October 8 — The Moon will recede slightly,

October 13 — The Moon will be visible near Jupiter,

In the morning of October 19 — The Moon will be near Venus,

October 23 — The Moon will reach its farthest point from Earth (406 thousand km).

If weather conditions are favorable for observing the celestial events, the night sky is expected to present a beautiful spectacle.
