The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection sent an official inquiry to the Civil Aviation Agency regarding cases related to the activities of private airlines — Centrum Air and Qanot Sharq.
It was found that these airlines have not fully fulfilled their obligations to passengers and cases of violating consumers' legal rights have been recorded.
According to the Committee, the number of complaints regarding air travel has significantly increased in recent years. In 2025, 127 appeals were recorded, while in the first 4 months of 2026, this figure reached 145, an increase of 114 percent.
During the investigations, cases such as overbooking of tickets, flight delays, charging for services not provided, and failure to provide passengers with sufficient information were identified.
It was also noted that the requirements of the Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights," the "Air Code," and the "Civil Code" were violated in a number of cases.
Among the main complaints of passengers are problems such as flights being delayed for several hours, being left stranded at airports, failure to provide booked seats, and insufficient payment of compensation.
The Committee also emphasized that airlines are not fully fulfilling their obligations, such as providing food, drinking water, and, if necessary, accommodation for passengers during waiting periods.
The information gathered on these cases is expected to be reviewed by the Civil Aviation Agency and appropriate measures taken.
The Competition Committee stated that it continues its investigations in this area and will provide additional information on the final results.
