In the Fergana, Andijan, and Tashkent regions, during rapid raids conducted with helicopter assistance as part of the “Qoradori–2026” operation, over 18,000 poppy and cannabis plants were identified. It turned out that some citizens had been growing thousands of prohibited plants on their plots.
In a number of regions of Uzbekistan, during rapid operations conducted as part of the anti-drug fight, over 18,000 poppy and cannabis plants were identified and destroyed. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to reports, as part of the “Qoradori–2026” rapid-preventive operation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its regional divisions carried out controlled flights by helicopter in the Fergana, Andijan, and Tashkent regions.
During the operations, in a total of 76 cases, 18,254 poppy plants and 254 cannabis plants were identified. Additionally, it was revealed that some citizens had been storing poppy straw, poppy heads, and “marijuana.”
It is noted that one of the largest cases was identified in the Bogʻdod district of Fergana region. A citizen born in 1981 was found to be growing 5,415 poppy plants on his plot, and the narcotic plants were formalized as material evidence.
Also, in the Quva district, a woman was found to be cultivating 4,600 poppy plants on her household plot. During the inspection, poppy heads were also found in the home and were formalized in procedural order.
In an operation carried out in the city of Margʻilon, a citizen born in 1964 was found to be growing 3,815 poppy plants. Also, 2 kilograms of poppy straw were found in his home.
In one of the cases in the Tashkent region, a nearly 80-year-old woman was found to be cultivating 400 poppy plants on her plot. It was also revealed that narcotic substances were being stored in her home.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all identified narcotic plants were destroyed. Criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects under Article 270 of the Criminal Code — cultivation of prohibited crops. Investigative actions are currently underway.
