An exchange of drone and missile strikes between the United States and Iran occurred in the Persian Gulf region. This incident is being assessed as another event that has further heightened tensions in the area. This was reported by BBC news.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that U.S. forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz. It was also reported that strikes were carried out against Iranian coastal surveillance radar stations located on the islands of Goruk and Qeshm.
Iran, in turn, announced that it had launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. military airbases in Kuwait and U.S. naval facilities in Bahrain. According to CENTCOM, six out of seven missiles were intercepted, and one failed to reach its target.
Local officials reported that one person was killed and more than 60 people were injured as a result of a drone attack on Kuwait International Airport. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) denied any involvement in the attack.
CENTCOM rejected Iran's claims, calling the strike on the airport a "deliberate and calculated attack."
